Vegetable garden update clip

A bit of a catch up on how the patch is going now we are coming to the end of summer.. Many of the plants are doing well but we are still having  few issues with nematodes & grasshopper attacks in the patch..
While cleaning out a few beds I found one that was extremely hydrophobic..  Below is a link that explains what hydrophobic soils are..
http://geography.swansea.ac.uk/hydrophobicity/soil_hydrophobicity.htm
Was an easy fix that involved a bag of composted horse manure & a garden fork with the rain well & truly re hydrating the soil mix in the bed..

Hope to finish cleaning out the beds tomorrow & sowing some seeds later on in the day..

Update on the composting systems

0 komentar

Its been now 9 months that the indoor worm composting experiment has started. During these 6 months the small Styrofoam (very) mini box grew to a slightly bigger composting crate, then expanded into a soy sauce bucket for the Bronx Writing Academy, and 3 (very) mini worm bin. All of that, in an apartment, with no odour, escapees or inconvenience.
In 9 months, 50 kg (110lbs) of food scraps, 16kg (35 lbs) of paper-cardboard and wood dust (dry weight) have been diverted from landfills and transformed on 20 kg (44 lbs) of compost.

We actually do not put all the food waste into the composting system, as it may be too small to process all of our food scraps, so we take the remaining food waste to the farmers market, where it is collected and composted by GrowNYC. Close to none of our food waste ends up in landfills.
Food waste in the landfill when "washed down" with rain, can pollute the water in the surrounding, costing in treatment to make it safely drinkable. Food in landfills also produces CO2, CH4, NO2 and other greenhouse gases. It is important to note that CH4 and NO2 a much more potent greenhouse gases. While composting - worm composting- will emit C02 as well, and may emit other greenhouse gases, it is emitting less of the CH4 and N02 - if the compost bin is kept aerobic - which is the case as worm are tunneling though, keeping space for air to circulate.
The compost progressively changed aspect, as I have used compressed wood chips in the bedding, and the wood chip do take much longer to degrade. I think it also may have rendered the compost tea less rich, as the compost tea powered hydroponics has shown some deficiencies recently. Another thing I have noticed, is that with the heat of the summer, in a non air conditioned apartment, is that the food scraps heat up quite a lot after addition, which has lead to a dryer compost coming out of the bottom. It also may have reduced the overall worm population. So I have been able to put less food scraps lately, as the input seem not to be transformed as fast. I also recently stopped putting the food scraps in our old food processor to see if it heats up less.
Overall, the compost from the composting bucket for the school is much (very much) wetter, even with numerous holes. It is also darker than the compost form the home composting bucket. In the school bucket, no (or very little) compressed wood chip are used in the bedding, only paper and cardboard is used.

Water Chestnut crop update

0 komentar
A look at the water chestnut crop for this year.. Third time lucky as the first 2 attempts were dismal failures..
The first went into the bathtub pond & we think the leachate from the bucket was making the fish ill so pulled it out..
The second attempt was with buckets placed into drums full of water.. That wasnt exactly a stunning success either with the soil becoming rather acidic..
Third attempt was the easy "toss them in a box & let them grow" method & it appears to have done the best so far... Funny that ;)
Think they will give us a few to eat & will be setting some aside for next years planting for certain..

Update of the vertical teaponic system and the compost tea experiment

The parsley and the small collard greens

Things seem to be going well in the vertical farm, expept the parlsey, I made the mistake of plugging the extra light for the all day on friday, and when i came back in the evening, a couple of the leaves looked dried up ... Also, It overall seem to not be as green anymore- I though maybe not enough light- but it could be also anot enough nitrate. But today there is a new leaf growing on it, so it probably will be good.

The green onions are growing nicely and this growth has attracted the lovely kitty who palyed with it. have transferred poted plants on the window seal so the cat does not have acess to it anymore.

Given the nice growth of the collard greens (and green onions) I decided to count the number of leaves and the size of the biggest leaf just for the heck of it. The longest green onion leaf is just below 11 inches (30 cm) long, the longest collard greens is 2 inches (6 cm), and the parsley is 7 inches (17.7cm). Each of the 4 green onion has 3 leaves, the parsley has 9 leaves, and the biggest collard green has 9 leaves. I took a few pictures of the plants to get an idea of the progression.

The small collard greens - pulled out to show the small roots growing out of the stem.

The bigger collard greens, with plenty of leaves growing from it.
A view of the whole teaponic system.

On the tea" side of the things, this week using 1.5 cups of worm compost for 2 cups of water, it seems that I got some traces of nitrates. Given the color of the tea, I really have to give a try at the stips style tests. But see the picture below, it when from a dark brown to a  "redder" dark brown after the incubation. I think it could be the apparition of some of the red of the API kit that changed the color this way, indicating that therre is some sufficient nitrate to change the color. I will get a set of test strips for next weeks tea and update.
The systems ammonia keeps showing traces (what i add) but it does not accumulate - showing that is really is cycle. Also Nitrate do not seem to accumulate either, they have been indetectable since thier "diseaperance "from the water a few weeks back, after the system had fully cycled.

Aquaponic update some lost fish plans for the pipes

A few Goldfish deaths :(

Lost a goldfish a few weeks ago & found 2 more laying on the bottom of the tank on Monday..
I had no idea at the start as to what could of caused the deaths so went looking online for some idea of what it could of been.. I came across a few sites with the one listed bellow being fairly comprehensive in its listing of different diseases & their symptoms..
http://www.csh.rit.edu/~tonyl/goldfish/testarea/symptoms.htm

I had no idea what might have caused the deaths at the time but am now fairly certain it was a sudden drop in water temp that may have caused them to perish..  Another theory put forward by a viewer is that it could of just been tired after mating... Apparently, as the gills & eyes looked so healthy this could of been a possibility.. Have never read of this happening before & really hope I didnt bury a few fish alive..  The goldfish are destined to go to a new home soon I dont know if I will get to test this theory..

Update walk through..
Bit late I know but here is the latest update clip for the aquaponic set up..

I found sometime this week to finely sort out how I will be altering the pipe work on the system so that all the water will run through a filter to remove solid fish waste & un eaten food..
One of the first things to make up was the 90° elbow units..
At the moment I am using normal 90° fittings on the pipes to redirect the water but it was pointed out to me that making up these nifty little units out of 2 x 45° elbows will let the water flow a lot more efficiently increasing flow rates throughout the whole system.. An upside to that is I think I can now down size the pump to one that should be slightly cheaper to run..

As the system can’t be left off line for any length of time I have been making up these elbows & pre fabricating the other pieces needed so they can be added on all in one go..  I really want a whole day set aside for this just in case any unforeseen events arise needing extra parts & time to finish the job..

Thats about it for now as I really should be out there harvesting the Yacon..

Picked up a commercial aquaponic system last week & now need to work out how to fit it into the yard :/ Am fairly sure that our existing system will be off to my parents & then we can get into setting up the new system here..

Am really looking forward to planing & building this system.. Am hoping to still include some Dutch buckets & DWC beds too :)

Decided to harvest the sweet potato from the aquaponics this week.. Also had a bit of a surprise when I was following the vine
that had grown over the side of the system :)

Cheers all & have a great one..

The vertical farms update compost tea a valid nitrogen source

0 komentar
Collard green is getting huge (kind of)
The vertical farm is growing along, I am not sure if it is the days starting to get longer, or my experimenting with the compost tea, but here is what is happening: the collard greens and green onions have grown quite a lost since last update. Especially the collard greens, I might have a mini-salad or something soon.

On the other hand, the parsley is still not doing much, and the pepper seedling that was growing has lost its first leaves and last cleaning I broke the first true leaf, so only 2 true leaves are still on it. Not sure if it is because I have treated the poor thing roughly or if its not liking it in there any-more....

Between below is the same collard greens on feb 16th

On the nutrients side, nitrates have started to increase again - since I add a mL of ammonia everyday (or almost). Last post about the system, Dr. Ruteledge (google + user) advised me to check out Dr. Tims video, suggesting that maybe the tests are not detecting nitrates because they are to high and "burnout" the reagents before it has time to react and produce the desired colour. So I diluted the water before testing it, and there is no trace of nitrite, a bit of ammonia (my system is 3 gallon and I add 1 mL of household ammonia everyday or almost).

I also did again the compost tea "experiment" last week end, but making sure I dilute the "sample" to test it. I actually decided to test non diluted and diluted using the test strips. The dilution 1:5 actually is light in color, so when ill decide to do the "timed experiement" again, I will use the test in drops.

THE COMPOST TEA EXPERIMENT !      From top to bottom: just after adding compost
compost tea after 10 min
compost tea after 10 mindiluted 1:5

compost tea after  1H
compost tea after  1H diluted 1:5

compost tea after  2H
compost tea after  2Hdiluted 4:15

Compost tea after 4H
Compost tea after 4H diluted 1:5

That is is the tap water used for the tea.

Compost tea after 6H
Compost tea after 6H diluted 1:5

Compost tea next morning (~15H)
Compost tea after ~15H diluted 1:5

So, what to make of that ? still dont know, all I know, is that sometimes between 2 and 6 hours, nitrate decrease, and nitrate as well. Given that the dilution 1:5 always look "lower" in color than the non diluted one. This time next morning there was still some amount of both, but clearly lower. In the pictures, it seems that maybe nitrite are decreasing later than nitrates, but given that these test are not very precise, it is difficult to really conclude. Maybe I should sneak in a lab and make measurement there in a more rigorous manner ... If anyone sees a spectrophotometer that need to be discarded give it to me ! lol.

The compost tea: 1 quart of water (left out to dechlorinate with an airstone), about 3.5 cups of worm compost and also 1/8th tsp of diatomeous earth and 1/8th of epsom salts, no sugar added.

I added some diatomeous earth because my try of adding some pumice seemed to improve the green onion, and epsom salt because I added some when I set up the system, and I though it was long ago ... not very scientific ... sorry ;-)

One last thing, the school project is about to start, this week, I will "pitch" the project to the students - I hope the couple of students that inspired the project will sign up! If you want to support my project with the school, but that you cant volunteer, you can give a donation to Chfermette see the donation button on the top right corner. Any donation will be used to finance a trip to one of NYC rooftop farms or to insure the continuation of the project after the end of the spring semester. Also, I am in the process of making it a non profit.

Worm challenge update 1

0 komentar
The bedding has compacted
Its the end of the first week of the worm challenge, so I couldnt help myself that opening the container, spread things around and look for the worms to see if they survived there first few days.
And the answer is : (drum roll)

Yes! I could find easily the on that was already bigger, and I think it looks bigger now, but I dont think it has become fully mature - but it will be soon, it seems that the clitellum is appearing.  The other one is still smaller.
The black particle you see are not worm castings - it is the used coffee grounds I added while setting up.
Some one asked on google plus how I would be managing the "gene pool" as a population developing from 2worms will obviously be heavily inbred. My first answer was that I would return these worms to the "General population" at some point. But I might be interesting to remove a juvenile every once in a while and replace by one coming from my worm crate. Another interesting thing could be to keep them totally isolated and see if the population collapses at some point... In which case, given that most hobby vermi composters start with half a pound or a pound of worms - which is a limited population too - and coming from a worm farm that may have also started from a relatively small population-  that would mean that exchanging worms between vermicomposters may be a necessity to avoid "genetic driven" collapse. Thaugh the genetic diversity between ~ 200 worms may be enough to avoid inbreeding.
I think I might give an update every other week for the future - unless next time I check both worms have clitellums - in which case that will be the real "start " of the experiment.

Happy New year and update

Happy new year! Agoucha, Toon, Neko [pronounce N- e (like the first e of there) ko (like in in loCO)] and I wish everyone a healthy and happy new year!
The tower farm keeps growing slowly and surely! Some plants seems that they are really liking it there, especially  the collard greens. I Also am pretty sure that I need to add more light to the system. Also the compost tea "experiment" is continuing, and so far it does not seem to provide significant amount of nitrates. Here is a breakdown of the state of things from top to bottom.

On the top, the is a pepper seedling, It grew in the compost from the worm crate and I transferred the 2 leaf seedling into the vertical farm a little while ago. It now has 4 leaves, and seems quite happy there.
Next there is one of the collard greens that grew its longer leave from 7.5 cm to 10 cm now. It also has added new leaves. (see second photo)
Next there is the parley, I harvested half of the leaves last week (not much, but it was tasty). this week it put out 2 leaves (stimulated by the cut ?)(see second photo)
Next there was a small 3 leave seedling of parsley that died, not sure why, but it became suddenly totally dry.
Then the is the bok choy core that seems to grow too, and added a few new leaves in the last 3 weeks.
Another collard grows lower, it also have grew new leave regularly, but it is not as green as the one on the top of the tower. This is what makes me think I need more lights. The light are placed on the top.
Notice on the picture how the collard on the left is not as intensly green as the one on the right.
Also There were a few green onions lower, but they died (except one that is higher in the tower) after I did the monthly cleanup. I have disturbed them, and they didnt like it, maybe added to insufficient light also participated, as they were not as green as the one closer to the top.

When I did the clean up there was a bit of a biofilm in the reservoir, internet sources are no agreeing whether it s good or bad, but logically, since we are dealing with a system full of life, I would expect such biofilm to develop.

For the water quality, I have hiked up the amount of ammonia to 4 ml for about a week, and there is now an obvious accumulation of ammonia and nitrate, with some traces of nitrite. I have back down the additions of ammonia as I would aim for an amount that gets quickly processed into nitrates. I am also wondering if this increase of ammonia may be in part linked to the cleanup - which may a killed some of the living film, releasing ammonia as it decomposes.

For the compost tea addition, I have kept increasing the amount of compost used. Yesterday, I have added  2.5 cups of compost to 4 cups of water, and "brewed" for 24h with aeration. I finally got around to get test strips to look at nitrates, and it does not show a significant amount of nitrate in the compost tea. However, the stips also measures general hardness (180 ppm) carbonate hardness (120ppm) pH (7.5) and nitrites (0 or maybe traces).

Finally, I seems that the Blog will pass the bar of 1000 views ! that is quite exiting, Last check I had 997 views!

Compost Tea update brewing seem to consume the nitrates!

0 komentar
Last week when I tested the compost tea, There was a quite high reading of nitrite and nitrate. The interesting thing is, Even if I gradually increase how much compost I add for the tea, i didnt see it increasing progressively. One thing was quite different though: we had a guest at home, so i got to brewing the tea only on Sunday late in the evening, and let it brew only for about 2 hours. So it got me thinking: what if, there is some nitrate at detectable level in the compost, but that it is used in some way by the living organisms during the brewing process ?

Yesterday, I set my compost tea to brew, with a timer on the side for 1h, 2h and then the next morning (about 12h from the set up time). I also "sacrificed" a strip to measure the water - molasses mixture before adding the compost to get a baseline. Here are the results:
TimeGHKHPhNO2-NO3-
03080600
11801207.510200
21801207.510200
121801207.500

So It seems that my tap water was slightly acidic (at that time) and does not contain significant amounts of nitrates. An hour and 2h after adding the compost to the mixture it does not seem to be different, but by 12 hours all nitrite and nitrates are gone. I cant measure how much ammonia there is - as I have only drop type tests for ammonia and the compost tea is pretty dark. Obviously, and as expected, the GH and KH increase a lot by addition of the compost.
So where does this nitrogen go ?
If nitrates are consumed by denitrification, my pH should increase to some extend. Denitrification is the biological process in which bacteria and fungus are transforming N03- into N2. This process consumes H+ ions [http://www.umich.edu/~lehnert/denitrification.html], which should raise the pH. Most hobby website would mention that denitrification is an anaerobic process, but in fact, some organisms can function in both aerobic and anaerobic modes [http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2FBF00408378], but is less efficient in aerobic environment. The pH seems stable, so I would want to say that this is not happening, but possibly the amount of change would not be reflected in the strips measurements. I cant test that without an actual lab. Also I have aeration going in the tea, which should slow down the process if occuring.
My hope Is that bacterial activity is fixing nitrogen into their proteins, which would keep the nitrogen in the system. Some bacteria are able to use N03- as a nitrogen source for their protein synthesis [http://www.bashanfoundation.org/cyli/cylisporocarps.pdf].

Conclusions for me at this point : I will brew my compost teat only for an hour or so from now on. Also, I will not add systematically molasses as there will not be a focus on increasing bacterial life.

New Worm Farm...

½ the Worms we harvested on the weekend are now in a new home, the ½ barrel we found at the local nature reserve... We are using an old fly screen frame with black builders plastic in place of the screen as a lid... They appear to be happy in there so all is good... The other ½ were put back in the 3 tiered farm...

Transplants & Seeds...
4 Passion fruits were taken out of the old Sweet Potato bed on Sunday, 1 was planted in the new Passion fruit barrel in the Chook yard as a back up & the others were potted out along with some that we planted a while back to give to family members...
A few punnets of Broccoli, Kale & Purple Cauliflowers will be sown out tomorrow just to cover any failures that may happen & for when we clear out Bed #5... Also planting some climbing Beans on the Cucumber trellis as soon as the seed arrives...

Walk through Update...
Had to cut this one up a bit as I was rambling on just a tad... Hopefully I shall get better at this so the clips run a bit smoother...

Have a great one all...

Vertical farm and compost update

0 komentar
This week, the tower farm is continuing to grow. I had to add about half a gallon of water to top of, the green onions are growing like crazy in the bottom of the tower. the rest keeps growing at its rate, except the parsley that is kind of stagnant.
On the nutrient side, I have just brewed some compost tea using 2 cups and 1/4 of worm compost in 1 quart of water, and nitrite and nitrate still read below the detection level in the compost tea , however, in the system, the level of nitrate is increasing. I did add 4 mL of ammonia last week, and again this week, but I think next week I will not add any, and see what happens. I recall that during December, I was adding 1 mL everyday of ammonia and it didnt seem to increase nitrates at all, I am starting to think that the compost tea brings some nitrogen in the system, but not in the form of ammonia, nitrite or nitrate, but that the system processes it into nitrate. Also, there is a little pick of nitrite.

For the compost, I now have a bucket set up for the school project, I have added a bag of 8 quarts of storebought compost to the bucket. The bucket was filled with paper and a bit of food scraps, and for the last 3 weeks, I have added the solids from the compost tea. I added storebought compost so there is enough finished compost for the class project when it starts. When I digged though to make a separation with compost on one side and "composting in progress" on the other side, there was quite a few worms in the bucket. I also added for good measure a couple of large handfull of partially composted material from my wormcrate - which contains adult worms and probably cocoons, and mixed it with the storebought compost. Of course i hydrated it as it was fairly dry out of the bag. My worm crate produced some more finished compost and it was incredibly fluffy and non sticky this time around,

The New Flock and Spent Grain Update

0 komentar

The poultry run has been pretty quiet for the last several months.  In autumn we processed all the old birds who were no longer laying.  The one long day we spent processing was an unwelcome chore but what a relief when it was all over and the freezer was full of chicken and duck for the winter stock.  Last August we bought twenty five laying chicks and our new flock has grown fabulously.  Raised on a soured milk diet, they are now almost five months and we expect them to begin laying soon.  We are ecstatic to have reached our goal of completely cutting off store bought feed! For about four months we have been feeding a combination of spent grain (fermented non-gmo barley that we get for free from a local brewery), vegis from the garden, organic green bin waste, our kitchen scraps-including fish and meat, and clabbored milk.  After doing a bunch of reading and combing the internet for recipes/ratios of homemade feed made with spent grain we really didnt find much useful information so we have been experimenting with trial and error.  What we learned is that our birds all love the spent grain but when fed to the younger pullets they had bloody stool within a day.  So we kept to the sour milk diet while they were growing with a supplement of organic grower crumble. Once they reached 6-8 weeks they transitioned from the brooder to the run and started on spent grain combined with vegis, etc.  They are all looking happy and healthy.  It will be exciting to find out how well they will lay on this diet.  Since we especially chose high production breeds this time around we are hoping for lots of yummy eggs.  I have to admit, I miss all the colors of the old flock.  The three breeds we chose are not as bright; white leghorns, red and black sexlinks, as well as our one random Americauna who gives us her periodic green egg.

We have big plans for the run to be an experimental food forest with apple, olive, fig and mulberry trees, Siberian pea shrubs, bamboo, comfrey and several nitrogen fixing cover crops to support the trees and give the poultry a little forage.  Everything is so dry, the chickens and ducks will be happy to be surrounded by more greenery.  In the meantime we will build a massive compost pile in the run for the chickens to scratch, turn, and feed off of then they will be pastured through our small orchard while we transform their habitat.

Check out this clip of a very cool, inspiring video about feeding chickens without grain.

Other ideas...were thinking of ordering Bourban Red turkeys and geese in a couple of months.  It will be so fun to have a bustling poultry yard again!

Worm Kingdom Update...
An update for Lynne & all... :
The worm farm is going great guns... The little fellas are munching through 3-5 kg worth of "processed" food every week... It is getting near time to harvest the little fellas so they can start again as nearly all the Coconut coir bedding has been turned into castings... They love to mass under their food along with a few Black Soldier fly larvae... The larvae are no real problem & when picked out make a great source of protein for the Chooks... Some even farm them as a food source for their Chooks & for fish bait/food... Here is a great site with heaps of information on the Larvae... http://www.microponics.net.au/?p=175
We have been stockpiling the Worm wee over the past few months just for the Autumn crops... I pour about a Litre into a 9 Litre watering can then spot water the Veggies & lime trees every second week... None have complained yet so it must be good...

Horse Poo Palace...
Charming name me thinks... **giggles to self**

The old worm farm has been sitting around doing nothing but storing some Wetpots so today it was put into action as a farm again...
I filled the 3 tiers of the farm with some of the "special blend"  manure compost with some Sugar cane trash and about 1 cup of worms for every level... It will be interesting to see just how fast they get comfy, start little families & eat their way through the mammoth size meal that they have..

My Favourite plant...

B? & I have this thing when we go driving around where we get so excited when we see nature start to take back over what we Ooomans think we have conquered... Trees & grass growing in gutters always bring a smile & grass growing from cracks in the centre of bitumen roads just makes us do a seated Happy dance in the car, much to the disapproval of the spawn in the back seat... That is one reason I dont mind the weeds & grasses growing in between the paved paths between the beds... I figure they also provide food for pests which in turn feed the countless Skinks, Geckos & spiders that live in the gaps around the beds & pavers... This Sweet Basil deserves to be a revered plant & wont be harvested unless catastrophe strikes all the other Sweet Basils that are popping up in & around the patch... The others that live in the lawn around the patch are still there even though they have snapped their main stems due to their size... Nothing better than the smell of fresh Basil as you walk around the patch & disturb the leaves on the plants...

Have a great one...

CERN Solar Update Oct 19 2015

0 komentar
Well, after last nights Transpicuous News Report, where I ended the show with the latest CERN "news", I woke up to yet another interesting article from the London Rag news"paper", the Express:

Scientists at Large Hadron Collider hope to make contact with PARALLEL UNIVERSE in days

SCIENTISTS conducting a mindbending experiment at the Large Hadron Collider next week hope to connect with a PARALLEL UNIVERSE outside of our own.

Followed by This one:

Did parallel universe open up? Hundreds see floating city filmed in skies above China

CHINESE TV news reports have told how thousands of residents in TWO areas reported separately seeing a huge city form in the skies.

The interesting part of this "news" story is the very last paragraph:

"The apparition, which was witnessed by hundreds of shocked residents, only lasted a few minutes before completely disappearing."
The channel speculated it could be "the result of a project blue beam test."
Project Blue Beam is a prolific conspiracy theory which believes NASA will one day
simulate an alien invasion of Earth or second coming of Christ through holograms.

Are you kidding me?  Did a main stream media (albeit junky) just openly talk about Project Blue Beam?   Holographic invasion by aliens?  Faked second coming of Christ?!?  ....

REALLY?!?

Of course they use the ol "Conspiracy Theory" tag line, but I found the play out of these two articles very interesting given all the stuff thats been going on this past few weeks....

Anyway, With the announcement by CERN that they may be opening a "parallel universe", I figured Id better keep a close eye on CERN.

The past week Ive been sorta ridiculously busy so I havent been watching CERN as closely as I usually do, but there have been a few interesting things showing up in the graphs.

First up, here is a screen shot of CERN Operations as of 10am UTC this morning,  and sure enough there was a couple of interesting things in the past day.  "Bobbles" that Ive not really seen before.

the Beam dump information doesnt line up with what is seen on the graphs.... sorta.  Or, lets just say, it looks like the graphs have been set up to be misleading- as they say "No Beam".... and yet the dump is showing a beam.... oh and that little beam blip at just before 11am GMT...  the dump is showing the last injection at 1:48 last night.... and no dump after that.

So I went to take a look at the solar info for the past few days.  While the sun has been supposedly quiet for the past 36 hours - no flares to speak of- there are active xrays and an uptick from the coronal hole that is facing us.   But more interesting is the geomagnetic info for the past 24 hours or so.

Coronal Hole Earth facing
Geomagnetic storm mid day Oct 18
You can see the Magnetopause crimping inward and distorting in several frames- cross reference the time with CERN

You can see on the Magnetopause pics that at the times when CERN was showing strange "bobbles" that I havent seen before- remember that CERN is one hour ahead of UTC timing for the Solar information..

In the UnFuckers Unite Facebook group weve been having quite a few conversations about the "physical", so to speak, "symptoms" that are being experienced across a broad spectrum of people over the past week especially.   With the "Notice" type article put out in the past few days about scientists using magnetics to literally numb and change people minds.... well, it puts CERN that much more directly in my focus of attention to keep an eye on.

Mind hack: Scientists use magnets to change attitudes on immigration, religion

Aquaponic update vlog with lazy fish winter tomatoes

0 komentar
Has been nearly 3 months since the last aquaponic vlog update so here you go folks.
Winter has struck here & the fish are starting to get a tad lazy due to the cold water but the plants are still growing strong.

The tomatoes have had another trim today with a few branches strung up due to the weight of the new fruit forming.
Have noticed that the water level is dropping a bit more than normal so shall be investigating to see if there are any leaks developing on the pipe work. Im hoping that its just just the growth spurt weve seen over the past week or so that is causing the increased water usage.

Best be off & start working in the patch.
Cheers & all the best folks.

Aquaponic update...

The sump tank/grow bed have been set up now...  The clay balls were all washed & a failure on the shroud around the bell siphon was fixed...

The site where the fish tank is going has been set up ready for the tank & the grow bed frames to be installed... Had a friend give me a hand on the weekend with the box... Thanks Mark.. The pump is in but is a bit to powerful to just run 1 bed so will have to wait until the rest of the grow beds & fish tank are on line I think... Power to the site is delivered through an extension cord to the pump & a water proof connection box is used keep it all safe... A bucket is also placed over the top to make certain no water gets in...

The barrel system is still lacking nutrients so we hope to get the Goldfish from the house into there as soon as I can get the IBC system plumbed up so the Yabbies can be added to it...  Its just a matter of finding the $$ now for the plumbing fittings... I have also been told that we should have permanent power to the site within a month...
                        **Crosses fingers & toes**

Have a great one & take it easy all...
